HMC Manufactures Massive Gear Set for the Army Corps of Engineers

When installed, it will produce electricity for the Ozark Hydroelectric Power Plant in Ozark, Arkansas. The gear and shaft assembly weigh roughly 125,000lbs and consists of a 174″ diameter low speed gear and a 143″ long low speed shaft. We also manufactured two low speed pinion shafts each weighing over 26,000lbs. These speed-increasers are rated at 33,800 horsepower.
